5th Annual Makiki Aloha Aina

HALAU KU MANA’S 8TH GRADE CLASS PRESENTS THE 5TH ANNUAL

MAKIKI ALOHA ʻAINA

Join us as we work together to malama our stream and community! We will be removing litter, increasing stream flow and improving habitat, clearing trails and planting native flora.

Add this event to your calendar, and donʻt forget to bring a long sleeve shirt, gloves, tools (mark your tools!), bug repellent, water bottle, snacks

Last year (2019) as many as 200 students, parents, teachers, and citizens across 4 stations from Hālau Kū Māna, Loʻi O Moleka, Nā Ala Hele (DOFAW/DLNR), Hawaii Nature Center, Maunalaha Community Association, Roosevelt High School, McKinley High School, Le Jardin Academy, Hanahau‘oli School, and Patagonia HI cleared:

  • 10,000 lbs of trash!
  • 1,000 cubic feet of green waste
  • 150 yards of stream bank restored
  • Filled an entire dumpster with 40 cubic yards capacity

The after party featured live entertainment, great food, informative booths and market area.
