9/13/2017 UPDATE:

For those already involved or attending, mahalo for your support of our “Island Style/ʻŌiwi Ē” Video Premiere & Concert on Wed 9/20 @ Ward Village Courtyard, 530-9 pm. The event is now SOLD OUT! (While it’s a free event, reservations were required, and all 600 tix have been reserved).

However, our charter school ʻohana have 3 options if you’d still like to attend:

1) Kōkua: We still have a handful of volunteer slots open, for both our early (5-7 pm) and late (7-9 pm) shifts. If you are available and interested in helping out, please let us know asap!

2) Standby Line: Those in the standby line will be let in at 6 pm, half an hour after the event begins. For those without reserved tickets, a seat is not guaranteed, it may be standing room only.

3) Each performing haumāna is allowed one mākua chaperone for transportation and supervision, who may accompany them into the venue upon arrival, if this is communicated by FRI 9/15 at 4 pm. If more than one ʻohana member wants to watch their keiki and did not reserve tix in time, see above 2 options.

Besides our charter school youth performing, representing the Mana Mele Collective at this concert will be
Amy Gilliom, Paula Fuga, Taimane, the Cruz ʻohana, Kamakakēhau Fernandez, Pōmaikaʻi Lyman and more.

Mana Maoli, the founding nonprofit of HKM that also provides facilities and Mana Mele program services to HKM, is releasing its 2nd ʻSong Across Hawaiʻiʻ, featuring HKM and other charter school youth alongside dozens of pro artists. The first one was “Hawaii Aloha” which received over 5 million views and a Hōkū award for best music video. This time, it’s a medley of “Island Style” by John Cruz in honor of the Cruz ʻohana, and “Oiwi E” composed by and in honor of HKMʻs kahuna John Keola Lake.

All HKM ʻohana are encouraged to attend this free event, and all haumāna who know or are willing to learn these two songs are invited to join other youth and pro artists to sing the medley on stage, and enjoy the video premiere and concert. Event details below:
